At 03pm 32 minutes on 25/01/2011, Nhon Trach 2 thermal power plant invested by PetroVietnam Power NhonTrach 2 Joint Stock Company in hamlet 3, Phuoc Khanh commune, Nhon Trach Province successfully synchronized the unit No. 2 of gas turbine – generator (GT12) and generated electric power to the national grid eight (08) days prior to the schedule.

After the successful synchronization of unit 1 on 26 December 2010, unit 2 (GT12) with installed capacity of 250MW jointing reliably to the national grid made an important landmark in the acceptance trial process of Nhon Trach 2 thermal power plant.

It is expected to put the single cycle of the power plant into commercial operation in the beginning of  March, 2011, partially satisfy the increasing power demand for socio-economic development of the country. Nhon Trach 2 combined cycle gas turbine thermal power plant with installed capacity of 750MW shall fuelled by natural gas and registered to follow with Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of United Nations. The thermal power plant is one of the national key works under Master Plan VI and constructed in Nhon Trach Power Complex, Dong Nai Province.
